People to Watch 2010

People to Watch 2010 - The calendar has flipped, and the time to reflect on the past, present, and future presents itself. In that spirit, The HPCwire team presents the People to Watch 2010 list of industry luminaries who are making a difference in HPC. The HPCwire People to Watch list is a semi-annual listing of individuals who are either contributing to the practical advancements of HPC technology and usage, or are serving, in some capacity as an ambassador for the HPC community at large. The selections are made through discussions with the HPCwire Editorial/Publishing team, with input garnered from luminaries in the HPC community ecosystem, including nominations and feedback from past recipients. This list is by no means a complete list, but after rigorous discussion, it's an honor for us to present twelve people who we believe are making a difference in HPC in 2010.

HPC in the Cloud

HPC in the Cloud - Despite the pervasiveness of cloud computing in the broader IT industry, the challenges of using this model for high performance computing are unique to the HPC paradigm. In an effort to help demystify and illuminate this important subject, HPCwire offers a two-part supplement series that will put the high performance cloud computing paradigm in the spotlight and assess its use in current implementations and deployments. In Part One, we focused on cloud computing opportunities in HPC and what's required to serve this market today. In this supplement, we highlight security and the impact of cloud computing on IT governance.
