Nov. 4 -- NETYS (The International Conference on Networked Systems) aims to bring together researchers and engineers from both the theory and practice of networked systems. These systems are viewed in their general sense including multi-core architectures, middleware environments, storage clusters, as well as social, peer-to-peer, sensor, wireless and mobile networks.
NETYS will provide a forum to report on best practices and novel algorithms, results and techniques on networked systems. Original contributions as well as experience papers on the principles, design, implementation, modeling, analysis, and application of networked systems are solicited. Specific concepts common to different forms of such systems are most welcome.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Multi-core architectures and multithreaded applications
- Distributed databases, embedded and operating systems
- Mobile, wireless, ad-hoc, sensor and social networks
- Cloud system and services, virtualization
- Middleware environments and data centers
- Concurrent and distributed algorithms
- Web-based and service-oriented architectures
- Event-based systems
- Security and privacy
- Self-stabilizing, self-organizing, and autonomic systems
- Overlay and peer-to-peer infrastructures
Paper Submissions and Publication
NETYS is soliciting two forms of papers: full and short papers. Both in LNCS form. Full papers are allowed a maximum of 15 pages, whereas short papers are allowed a maximum of 5 pages, both in the submission and in the proceedings. A full paper submission might be accepted as such, as a short paper or a poster. A short paper may be accepted as such or as a poster. Posters will be presented at the conference to reflect work in progress and will not lead to a publication in the proceedings. Authors are given the option to accept or not the type in which their paper is selected for acceptance.
Springer's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series will publish the proceedings of the conference (www.springer.com/lncs). It is required that each accepted paper be presented at the conference by one of its authors.
The Computing Journal will consider extended versions of selected NETYS papers in a special issue (www.springer.com/computer/journal/607) Awards will be given to the best paper and the best student paper. A paper is eligible for the best student paper award if at least one of its authors is a full-time student at the time of submission. This should be indicated in the submission.
Workshops and Tutorials
Workshops and tutorials will be held in conjunction with NETYS with the aim of allowing researchers and practitioners to explore topics and/or emerging research areas in depth. Please contact the program chairs with a brief description of proposals by January 1, 2014.
The origin of NETYS dates back to the International Spring School on Distributed Systems organized under the name "METIS." After the success of the first two editions of METIS'2008 in Rabat and METIS'2009 in Marrakech, both in French, the last four editions, METIS-CTDS'2010 in Fez, METIS-CTDS'2011 in Marrakesh, METIS'2012 in Tangier, and NETYS in Marrakesh were in English. Along the different editions of METIS/NETYS, different topics related to distributed systems have been addressed, from the "Principles of Distributed Systems" and "How to Secure Distributed Systems" to "Social Networks." All involved a prestigious list of speakers.
