July 17 -- The SC conference series has traditionally been home to cutting-edge developments in high-performance networking, alongside those in high-performance computing, storage and analytics. Continuing in this spirit, SC13 is sponsoring the SCinet Network Research Exhibition (NRE) to highlight and expand this SC tradition.
The NRE is soliciting proposals from research and industry participants for demonstrations of network testbeds, emerging network hardware, and advanced network intensive scientific applications.
Proposals should include a description of the technology and proposed demonstration. A program committee comprised of networking experts as well as SCinet engineers will review proposals and work with participants to develop, customize, and integrate with SC13’s network infrastructure as appropriate.
Submissions to the SC13 Network Research Exhibition may be up to two pages and should include the following:
• An overview of the network research or technology to be demonstrated
• A statement of the relevance to the community and to science
• A description of desired network resources, in SCinet and in global research and education networks.
Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Relevance to the community and to science
• Use of unique aspects of SCinet
• Quality of demonstration or experimental design
• Intellectual merit
Selected submissions may receive:
• A speaking slot to present demonstration results
• Discounts on SCinet connectivity, depending on demo requirements, available bandwidth and other considerations
• Inclusion in the SC online conference archive

About the Network Research Exhibition (NRE)
Since 1991, SC has featured SCinet, a leading edge high-performance network assembled yearly to enable exhibitors and technical program attendees to demonstrate and learn about HPC innovations and to perform experiments on the unique SCinet infrastructure. In addition, SCinet has worked to further high-performance networking with efforts like efforts like Xnet, showcasing emerging network technologies, and the Bandwidth Challenge, pushing the limits for extreme-scale data movement. Most recently, SCinet developed the Research Sandbox to foster advanced use of programmable and 100G networks. The SCinet Network Research Exhibition (NRE) will highlight and expand these SC network research activities.
