TROY, Mich., June 5 -- Altair, a leading global provider of simulation technology and engineering services, announced that Fujitsu will resell Altair's market-leading workload management software product, PBS Professional(R), as a component of Fujitsu's recently announced high-performance computing (HPC) cluster software stack.
A leader in worldwide information and communication technology, Fujitsu is now an Altair global authorized reseller and will offer PBS Professional on all Fujitsu PRIMERGY HPC computing systems. Fujitsu has also selected PBS Professional as the default workload manager for its Fujitsu Software HPC Cluster Suite (HCS) Advanced Edition, which includes such extended features as large cluster support and high availability, as well as support for multiple clusters at a single site.
The integrated solutions will improve productivity for users seeking practical and efficient HPC solutions.
"By providing our HPC users with first-rate workload management products like PBS Professional, Fujitsu is maintaining its leadership in simplified, reliable HPC computing solutions," commented Uwe Neumeier, Vice President, Global Server Business at Fujitsu. "Altair is a leader in HPC software and services, and PBS Professional is the default product for commercial-grade workload management. We are happy to be partnering with Altair to provide the highest quality HPC solutions for our customers."
"With Fujitsu as an authorized PBS Professional reseller, Altair is ensuring our users have access to a broader range of HPC computing options," said Bill Nitzberg, Chief Technology Officer for PBS Works at Altair. "We are proud that Fujitsu chose PBS Professional for its top-level HPC Cluster Suite solution, which of course needs to offer the best available workload management for HPC users."
The HPC Cluster Suite (HCS) is a comprehensive, purpose-built software stack that includes a set of fully validated HPC software components for x86 HPC clusters. The stack combines the best-of-breed open source and proprietary software products and tools that ensure optimal usage of the Fujitsu PRIMERGY x86 hardware platforms, along with ease of management and use.
Fujitsu's portfolio of PRIMERGY servers offers reliability, quality and performance for HPC users. Incorporating more than 30 years of experience and intellectual property, PRIMERGY provides a complete ecosystem that helps enterprises operate more efficiently and drive down costs. PRIMERGY servers also excel in energy efficiency, virtualization features and sophisticated system management functions.
One of the most popular workload management products in existence, Altair's PBS Professional has been used for more than 20 years at thousands of customer sites to easily share distributed computing resources across geographic boundaries. PBS Professional is the flagship product for PBS Works, a comprehensive suite for optimizing HPC environments that offers additional tools for Web-based submission, analytics, and data management.
Fujitsu customers can use PBS Professional by choosing the Advanced Edition of the HPC Cluster Suite, or by requesting PBS Professional as their preferred workload management option on any PRIMERGY servers. Fujitsu will deploy PBS Professional on the chosen system, so users can get started immediately with no manual installation required. Support and maintenance for PBS Professional on PRIMERGY systems are included.
