May 20 -- Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that its industry and performance-leading InfiniBand solutions were selected by Dutch cloud service provider, Cloud Provider, a cloud hosting and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) provider in the Netherlands, as its standard interconnect infrastructure for their enterprise cloud deployments.
“Cloud Provider conducted elaborate testing on Mellanox’s InfiniBand solutions, using a variety of deployment scenarios.”
With more than 500 clients and resellers, Cloud Provider offers its customers a cloud platform to build and scale applications and websites on-demand. Utilizing Mellanox’s InfiniBand interconnect solutions, Cloud Provider reduced their cost of deployment and decreased the complexity of their data center environments, providing their customers with a significantly higher performance cloud computing platform at an overall lower price.
“In comparison to other interconnect solutions like Ethernet, Mellanox's InfiniBand offers us a faster and more stable transmission of data between our hypervisors and storage platform, enabling us to meet our customers' evolving demands for high performing cloud solutions with low latency, while keeping our costs low,” said Sander Cruiming, CEO of Cloud Provider. “By leveraging Mellanox’s unique InfiniBand interconnect performance, efficiency and scalability capabilities, Cloud Provider can offer a fast, stable, and scalable on-demand virtualized infrastructure that differentiates us from our competitors.”
Cloud Provider has been using InfiniBand within its own data center for the past 2.5 years, conducting research around use of the interconnect for distributed storage and scalable cloud infrastructures. Due to InfiniBand’s high levels of return on investment and superior application cost/performance, Cloud Provider decided to use InfiniBand over 10 or 40 Gigabit Ethernet as the core of the company’s offering.
“We develop high-traffic business websites with the Drupal CMS. On our previous platform, we experienced disk performance issues, as our applications need fast storage access for a large number of database queries and for file-based caching,” said Rick Bosscher, General Manager, Dycon.nl. “Cloud Provider’s new InfiniBand-based cloud platform has given a great performance boost to our clients’ websites, dramatically increasing their satisfaction and enabling us to increase our business results.”
“Cloud Provider conducted elaborate testing on Mellanox’s InfiniBand solutions, using a variety of deployment scenarios,” said Kevin Deierling, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies. “Looking at the test results, InfiniBand’s key benefits – extreme low latency, scalability, high throughput per port and price/performance –were apparent. Mellanox InfiniBand was the obvious choice for Cloud Provider and for all customers looking to deploy cloud computing solutions with high-performance compute and high-capacity storage.”
Mellanox Technologies is a leading supplier of end-to-end InfiniBand and Ethernet interconnect solutions and services for servers and storage.
