IRVINE, Calif., May 7 -- Solarflare announced today that its latest generation 10GbE Performant and Onload server adapters have been selected by IBM to optimize the I/O performance of the company's System x servers (including iDataPlex). Solarflare's dual-port SFP+ low profile server adapters deliver industry-leading 10GbE performance, scalability and reliability for a wide range of applications, including cloud, virtualized servers, virtualized desktop infrastructure (VDI), grid computing, high performance computing (HPC), big data analytics, and electronic trading.
Driven by customer demand, Solarflare dual-port 10GbE Performant and Onload server adapters are now available from IBM and IBM authorized resellers as fully supported factory options. Both IBM server adapters utilize a cut-through architecture that delivers exceptional performance, including high throughput, high IOPS, and efficient CPU utilization, while also supporting Linux, Windows and VMware operating environments.
IBM's Onload server adapters also accelerate applications running on System x servers, and are fully compatible with OpenOnload(R) , a high-performance kernel-bypass network stack that delivers the lowest latency and the highest message rate in the industry while maintaining full application compatibility with TCP and UDP support.
"IBM's selection of Solarflare's leading 10GbE server adapters validates Solarflare's technology leadership and growing position in the market. IBM and Solarflare have many mutual customers, and this new relationship will enable us to serve these customers more effectively and efficiently, " says Russell Stern, CEO at Solarflare. "Using our server adapters, IBM will now be able to provide Solarflare's market-leading server networking as a key part of the System x value proposition."
IBM-branded dual-port Performant and Onload server adapters are immediately available as IBM part numbers 47C9952 for Performant adapters and 47C9960 for Onload adapters. For pricing information and more details, please contact your local IBM sales representative.
