SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 15 -- Colfax International, a leading provider of innovative and expertly engineered workstations, servers, clusters, storage, and personal supercomputing solutions, announced today an industry first, an Intel Cluster Ready certified system based on an Intel Server System supporting the future Intel Xeon processor E5 family, running Platform Computing Platform Cluster Manager 3.0.1 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1. Colfax will market and sell the industry-leading solution as the CX-2290JF-X5 beginning in 2012.
Based on the Intel Server System H2000 family, the CX-2290JF-X5 offers support for up to 8 future Intel Xeon E5 processors in a 2U form factor. Built for the HPC market, the Colfax CX-2290JF-X5 system offers 2X floating point operations per clock cycle via support of Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) and provides a maximum memory bandwidth of up to 1600MHz. QDR Infiniband* is available. The certification as an Intel Cluster Ready system indicates that the CX-2290JF-X5 is built according to the Intel Cluster Ready specification and rigorously tested and verified for component interoperability, meaning customers can have confidence that a cluster built on this system will work as it should, boosting productivity right away.
"Colfax is tremendously excited about the new and expanded portfolio of server boards and systems from Intel. We're out showing these to our customers and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We have a pipeline of deals just waiting for these systems to begin shipping. In fact, we expect to quadruple our business with Intel's Enterprise Platforms and Services Division (EPSD) next year," says Gautam Shah, CEO/President, Colfax International. "Our customers are visibly excited about these new systems. Intel's commitment to the channel is apparent in the breadth of boards and systems they've queued up for next year. These are fantastic new systems, and we can't wait to begin shipping them."
"We worked closely with partners, such as Colfax, to define these new products. What we heard was that they wanted more products from us and specifically for key segments like HPC. What we're delivering is 3X the number of boards, a whole new family of chassis in addition to new software and services", says David Brown, GM of the Enterprise Platforms and Services Division at Intel. "Colfax's achieving the 1st ICR certified system based on Intel's H2000 Server System family is a great indication of the momentum building for the launch in 2012 and of Colfax's agility and innovation. Colfax is constantly pushing the limits and leading the industry and we're very proud to have partnered with them to achieve this industry milestone."
