Mellanox 40Gb/s InfiniBand solutions enable Dawning to achieve a performance record for the largest HPC System in China
HAMBURG, June 1 -- Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for datacenter servers and storage systems, today announced that its industry-leading end-to-end 40Gb/s InfiniBand connectivity products, including ConnectX-2 adapters and IS5600 switches with FabricIT fabric management software, provide the high-performance server and storage networking for Dawning's new supercomputer to be installed at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) in southern China. The new supercomputer, codenamed "Nebula", is the fastest HPC system ever built in China, and is ranked as the second high-performing system in the world as publicized on the June 2010 TOP500 List of supercomputers with a sustainable Linpack benchmark performance of 1.271 petaflops.

In addition to Mellanox's 40Gb/s InfiniBand high-speed networking, "Nebula" is fully architected and constructed with Dawning's TC3600 blade server technologies for the compute nodes. Dawning's TC3600 blade servers are also the first in the world to conform to the industry's SSI standard, as well as China's HPCSC standard.
