SAN JOSE, Calif., July 19 -- RiverMeadow Software Inc., developer of the world's only automated server migration solution developed specifically for carrier and service provider clouds, has announced the availability of version 2.0 of RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS which delivers a broad set of feature and infrastructure enhancements. Developed from the ground up to accommodate both Linux and Windows server-to-cloud migrations, RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS automates the cloud migration process from beginning-to-end, in less time and without the need to install agents or take servers out of production.
"The cost and complexity of migrating virtual, physical or cloud-based servers into the cloud can be overwhelming -- averaging thousands of dollars per server and man-months' worth of operational effort," said Mark Shirman, CEO, RiverMeadow. "With the enhancements delivered in RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS 2.0, we continue to remove the barriers of entry for just a fraction of the cost and without the operational headaches, so organizations can immediately gain the economic and practical benefits of cloud computing."
The RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS is an API-based platform designed to automate the migration of live physical, virtual and cloud-based servers "as-is" into public, private and hybrid cloud environments. By decreasing the cost, timeframe and intricacy of cloud migration, RiverMeadow allows carriers and service providers to quickly, easily and cost-efficiently deliver the benefits of cloud computing to their customers. This release is a re-architecture of the product, enabling RiverMeadow to rapidly scale-out whether it is geographic, feature or hypervisor support. Over the next six months, RiverMeadow will be adding datacenters around the world to address a broader, global market fueled by relationships with VMware, Cisco, Ericsson and others.
"RiverMeadow Software is a must-have resource for Peak's VAR community," said Luke Norris, CEO and Founder of PeakColo. "By leveraging their unique software, our service providers can streamline cloud migrations and rapidly deploy benefits to their end-users, making the cloud accessible to more IT organizations than ever before."
Unlike other solutions that migrate at the application level and have to account for shared libraries, registry entries and other complex interoperability issues, the RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS migrates whole servers and disk volumes at the OS level. By simply providing their cloud URL and credentials, cloud providers can instantly access RiverMeadow's three key processes (Collect, Convert and Deploy) that automate server migrations from start-to-finish.
"Many businesses have already moved portions of their applications, data and other IT workloads to public and private clouds," said Mark Levitt, Director of Business Cloud Strategies research at Strategy Analytics. "Over the next few years, as businesses look to the clouds for more of their IT operations, they will need tools such as RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS for efficiently moving virtualized servers and data to clouds initially as well as between clouds on an ongoing basis."
