MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C., July 15 -- eGroup, the Southeast’s leading provider of cloud, application and end-user computing services, announced today the expansion of its hosted, high-performance computing infrastructure, eCloud.
As a result of the latest enhancements, eGroup customers will experience a much easier and faster data backup process to the eCloud as well as to multiple offsite locations.
Additionally, the eCloud self-service portal enables "point-and-click" based virtual machine (VM) creation. If a customer foresees the need to rapidly provision servers, they can do so online, in the matter of minutes, at their convenience.
"During the past few years, we’ve seen companies’ operational and business cloud-powered application requirements become more complex. This has resulted in the need for enterprise-level protection against potential disasters for even the small and mid-sized market," said Jirah Cox, Cloud Practice Lead, eGroup. "The consistent challenge for those businesses has always been the lack of affordable and easy options to secure data at an offsite location. Today, with the eCloud’s self-service portal and ability to rapidly provision servers, SMBs will be armed with a much more effective backup and disaster recovery solution."
In a recent Spiceworks survey, SMBs revealed that they face persistent backup and disaster recovery challenges. According to the results, nearly 30 percent of the respondents believe their backup methods are insufficient.
"Unfortunately, as the Spiceworks study illustrates, there are a number of SMBs that continue to lose ground by sticking with inefficient and insufficient backups," continued Cox. "By moving to the cloud, SMBs have immediate access to enterprise-class technology, which makes them more competitive within their respective markets."
