June 24 -- "Don't be interesting to everybody but be essential for a few" – with this motto in mind, NOVATTE, a Singapore-based HPC manufacturer, launched an Open Standard and easy-to- manage NOVATTE Lustre Appliance (NLA). "As a company we believe in thinking and acting differently. Every day we challenge ourselves to make our HPC products beautifully designed, system administrator friendly, of great quality and based on Open Standards," says Yury Drozdov, CEO of NOVATTE. "We believe that this kind of approach allows our customers to eliminate vendor lock-in situations, gain freedom and flexibility in deciding on their own HPC infrastructure, and provides them with tremendous savings in both CAPEX as well as OPEX across the whole lifecycle of the system. Many of our customers tell us that we are a breath of a fresh air for them," says Yury.
NLA is an open-standard parallel file system storage that comes together with full Level 1 / Level 2 / Level 3 Lustre support provided by NOVATTE, GUI-based central management system that is deeply integrated with Lustre, and various high-density storage modules optimized for both High IOPS / Small files and Capacity. NLA’s architecture was thoroughly checked and certified by Intel engineers.
"Intel is committed to provide Lustre end users with the very best support and services. The Lustre ecosystem is growing rapidly in HPC and Big Data segments. This announcement is a great example of how NOVATTE puts customers first," said RadhaKrishna Hiremane, Intel’s regional director of Datacenter Product Marketing Asia Pacific. “This innovative preconfigured Lustre storage appliance along with ease of deployment, support and implementation services will enable NOVATTE to service customers as a single point of contact not only for Parallel File System Storage but also for the whole HPC infrastructure stack.”
NLA is based on Open Standards and solves the problem of Vendor lock-in situations tightly associated with IBM GPFS, EMC Isilon, and other owners of proprietary storage technology. Customers can now seamlessly grow their file system, independently adjust Lustre hardware configuration for more flexibility and easily change service providers if not satisfied with their level of service and/or customer support.
Full Lustre support
NLA comes with comprehensive high-quality Level 1 / Level 2 / Level 3 Lustre support from NOVATTE that is fully backed up by engineers from Intel. Although Lustre has a vibrant user community, for sites with stringent operational requirements, nothing beats the support from expert Lustre engineers. Be assured that the best Lustre experts and engineers from NOVATTE and Intel teams who create and implement most of the new features and debuggers landed to Lustre are standing behind you to minimize the impact to your on- going workflow by any disruption – whether it is due to a hardware failure, administrator error, or a software bug.
Easy to administer through intuitive GUI
NLA’s Lustre Central Management System is deeply integrated with Lustre and brings together information from multiple sources to provide a unified view of what is going on in a storage system. NLA’s Central Management System vastly simplifies installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and fault diagnosis. It also detects all NLA’s shared devices and presents them in live intuitive graphs for real-time monitoring. Lustre’s command line interface is still available for power users, while the scriptable API enables enterprise scale automation.
NLA is an end-to-end highly flexible and scalable solution that facilitates and eases Lustre adoption by HPC and Big Data users; it is a powerful, open standard and scale-out storage appliance that brings tremendous performance, manageability and data protection to users of HPC technical applications and big data workloads.
NOVATTE is the Singapore-based HPC Company that raises productivity for Government, Academia, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Digital Content Creation markets in APAC region. NOVATTE provides the whole vertical of open-standard HPC products ranging from HPC clusters, Lustre storage and Archiving systems and to HPC & Lustre management training, Manycore programming courses and Software porting services. For its continuous efforts in developing HPC community in APAC, NOVATTE received multiple leadership awards from Intel, and NVIDIA.
