IRVINE, Calif., April 2 — Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) networking software and hardware, announced today that its latest generation 10GbE Onload server adapter has been selected by HP to accelerate applications running on HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) servers. Solarflare's dual-port SFP+ low profile server adapter (HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 570SFP+ Adapter) delivers industry-leading 10GbE performance for a wide range of applications, including electronic trading, cloud, virtualized desktop infrastructure (VDI), virtualized servers, grid computing, high performance computing (HPC) and networked storage.
Solarflare's server adapters utilize a cut-through architecture that delivers exceptional performance, including high throughput, high IOPS, and efficient CPU utilization. Solarflare server adapters are also fully compatible with OpenOnload, a high-performance kernel-bypass network stack that delivers the lowest latency and the highest message rate in the industry while maintaining full application compatibility with TCP and UDP support.
Driven by customer demand, the HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 570SFP+ Adapter is now available as a fully supported factory installed server option. The combination of the HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 570SFP+ Adapter and HP ProLiant Gen8 servers delivers industry-leading performance, scalability and reliability for a wide range of applications.
"HP's selection of Solarflare's leading 10GbE server adapter validates Solarflare's technology leadership and growing position in the market. HP and Solarflare have many mutual customers, and this new relationship will enable us to serve these customers more effectively and efficiently," says Mike Smith, Vice President and General Manager, Host Solutions at Solarflare.
"With the growth of high performance computing, cloud and virtualization, enterprises are in need of a solution that can adapt to a variety of workloads," said Paul Birney, Director of Marketing, Industry Standard Servers and Software, HP. "Integrating the Solarflare 10GbE adapter within the HP ProLiant DL360p and DL380p Gen8 servers increases performance, scalability and ensures customers have access to a comprehensive offering of applications."
