PALO ALTO, Calif, Oct. 23 — Jelastic, Inc., the creators of the award-winning Java Cloud hosting platform, today announced the launch of the highly anticipated new version of the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). Jelastic 1.8.5 features integration with Parallels Billing Automation Standard (PBAS), application packaging, TCP load balancing, custom SSL certificates and a Smart Live Migration System.
Jelastic's ultra-scalable and interoperable platform has made Java cloud hosting easy: even a non-techie can get a Java app up and running in the Cloud in just a few minutes. The latest version of this platform, Jelastic 1.8.5, offers many new features and improvements that build on Jelastic's award-winning cloud hosting platform.
Out-of-the-box integration with the Parallels Billing Automation Standard (PBAS) – a highly efficient and cost-effective billing automation system for small to medium sized hosting providers – is also part of the latest release. With PBAS, Jelastic automates most of the time-consuming management tasks for hosters and provides the end users with the ability to manage their billing directly from the Jelastic dashboard. With this release, hosting service providers have access to three different options for their billing automation: the PBAS system, the Parallels Automation system or, by using Jelastic's extensive API set, any other billing system.
Another great benefit for both service providers and end users in the latest release is Jelastic's Application Packaging. Jelastic has made it easy for ISVs and hosting providers to package applications with the programmatic instructions that they used to put in How-To's. Jelastic App Packaging makes offering, hosting or deploying an app as easy as it can possibly be. For the Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and the hosting provider it is a one-time process. For the end-user, it's as easy as one-click. Users can now deploy an application directly from the application's home page or from Jelastic's Solutions page by clicking on the "Get it hosted now" button. No coding or know-how necessary.
Other great features that Jelastic has incorporated into the latest release are custom SSL certificates and the Smart Live Migration System. With custom SSL certificates, users now have access to a level of security that they did not before: allowing them to easily secure their domains and applications with the click of a button. The new Smart Live Migration System periodically analyzes the state of all the hardware servers and ensures that nothing is overloaded or being used inefficiently; if it finds that a server is overloaded, it can do a live migration to a server with less load, all without downtime.
