SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 6 — Riverbed Technology, the performance company, today announced its participation at Cloud Connect Chicago, taking place September 10-13, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Chicago, Ill. At the conference, Steve Riley, technical director, office of the CTO, at Riverbed will deliver a presentation highlighting recent advancements in network virtualization that support a software-defined data center and will also participate in a workshop addressing cloud latency. Cloud Connect brings together IT professionals, developers, infrastructure and service providers, and cloud influencers to discuss the latest technologies, platforms, strategies, and innovations around cloud computing.
As organizations are choosing to move to a fully cloud-based IT infrastructure or taking a hybrid approach, enterprises must make a fundamental adjustment to move away from hardware-centric technology. In the session titled "Softening the Network: Virtualization The Final Frontier," Mr. Riley will discuss how network virtualization can simplify the management and provisioning of the network and applications. This session will take place on Thursday, Sept. 13, 9:00 - 10:00 AM in Grand Ballroom C.
Additionally, Mr. Riley will participate in a workshop titled "Cloud Performance: Guide to Tackling Cloud Latency." In this session, Mr. Riley will discuss how performance matters more than ever in the cloud as more layers of shared environments separate users from their applications and data. This workshop-style session will explore a variety of solutions that help users regain a local area network (LAN)-like experience in the cloud. The workshop session will take place on Monday, Sept. 10, 1:30 - 4:45 PM in LAX.
"The challenges associated with distance introduced by cloud computing can adversely impact performance and the end user experience. Riverbed provides visibility into crucial interdependencies and enables organizations overcome complex performance challenges that are critical for success with the cloud." - Steve Riley, technical leader, office of the CTO, Riverbed.
More than 19,000 organizations worldwide depend on Riverbed to understand, optimize and consolidate their IT infrastructure through solutions that overcome performance issues caused by distance, distributed computing, and ever increasing amounts of data. As IT organizations embark on strategic initiatives to virtualize, consolidate and migrate workloads into cloud environments, users are moved farther from their data. Slow applications, slow file transfers and inefficient websites can negatively impact the performance and success of these initiatives. Riverbed transforms IT performance by providing solutions spanning WAN optimization, edge virtual server infrastructure (edge-VSI), application-aware network performance management, application delivery controllers, web content optimization (WCO), and cloud data protection for backup and disaster recovery. By providing the broadest portfolio of performance solutions that deliver anywhere, any-application optimization, Riverbed enables organizations to increase productivity and efficiency, while enhancing business resilience and controlling costs.
