OpenStack leader announces availability of popular open source platform-as-a-service to the OpenStack Community
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 14 — Piston Cloud Computing, Inc., the enterprise OpenStack company, today announced it will provide live demos of Cloud Foundry BOSH integration with Piston Enterprise OpenStack at the 2012 VMworld Conference. This community open source project allows the Cloud Foundry Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) to run on OpenStack. With cooperation from VMware, Piston Cloud will distribute and support this new integrated capability in the next release of their flagship product, Piston Enterprise OpenStack.
Cloud Foundry is the leading open source PaaS offering with a fast growing ecosystem and strong enterprise demand. OpenStack is a global collaboration of developers and cloud computing technologists producing the ubiquitous open-source cloud computing framework for building public and private clouds.
The integration takes advantage of Cloud Foundry BOSH, the recently announced open-source tool chain for release engineering, deployment and lifecycle management of very large-scale Cloud Foundry instances. Specifically, BOSH components provide automated services such as creation of virtual machines and the installation and configuration of application packages on those machines.
The Piston Cloud development team worked closely with the VMware Cloud Foundry engineering team on this integrated OpenStack and Cloud Foundry community project. This new project is being submitted to the OpenStack satellite ecosystem for future consideration as an OpenStack incubation project.
To learn more about the benefits of Piston Enterprise OpenStack integrated with Cloud Foundry BOSH, attendees can visit Piston Cloud's VMworld booth #2337.
