RALEIGH, NC, July 17 — rPath, the enterprise PaaS company, today announces that the company closed the first half of 2012 with 174 percent bookings growth over the same period last year. The company points to heightened demand for "enterprise PaaS" and active reseller relationships as the source of growth.
"Over the last four quarters, we've seen a very positive shift in the market for cloud automation," says Michael Torto, rPath CEO. "Enterprises and service providers have moved from kicking tires to taking action," Torto says.
Enterprise platform as a service (PaaS) is increasingly seen as the best-fit approach for automating operating system and middleware stacks in enterprise environments. While large IT operators want to deliver the speed and simplicity of pure PaaS, they've found it too inflexible to meet their requirements. Different from pure PaaS, enterprise PaaS provides the agility of PaaS designed for complex enterprise realities.
Contributing to rPath's growth are sales and marketing relationships with large platform vendors including Cisco, which is both an rPath customer and a go-to-market partner.
"We believe that cloud computing and the use of platform-as-a-service technologies will enable IT organizations to become more agile…more responsive to their business needs," said Yefim Natis, vice president and distinguished analyst at Gartner. "Those organizations that are late at adopting this approach are going to fall behind." 1
rPath recently hosted "IT Automation Unplugged," a virtual roundtable on the present and future of cloud automation, featuring Glenn O'Donnell, principal analyst at Forrester Research; Brett Adam, chief operating officer and chief technology officer of rPath; Luke Kanies, founder and CEO of Puppet Labs; Wayne Greene, director of product management at Cisco; and Nand Mulchandani, co-founder and CEO of ScaleXtreme. The replay is available here.
