CHICAGO, June 11 — The Open Cloud Consortium (OCC) has been providing cloud infrastructure for researchers with big data needs since 2009. The OCC is pleased to announce that it is introducing a new resource: its OCC-Y Cluster. The OCC-Y Cluster is a 4 rack 928 core cluster running Apache Hadoop with 1 PB of storage available.
The OCC-Y Cluster was donated by Yahoo!
The OCC manages and operates the Open Science Data Cloud, which is a multi-petabyte distributed cloud-based infrastructure for managing, analyzing, integrating and sharing scientific data. The OCC also operates and manages Project Matsu, which is a cloud-based environment for analyzing data from NASA's EO-1 satellite. The Open Cloud Consortium is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. For your students and researchers to use the OCC-Y Cluster, your university needs to join the Open Cloud Consortium. Access is limited to select university computer science departments located in the United States and selected by one of OCC's major donors, Yahoo!
