MELBOURNE, Florida, April 11 — Sabalcore Computing today announced it was selected by the U.S. Navy to provide the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Warfare Center Weapons Division with high performance computing cloud services.
The contract will allow NAVAIR to utilize scientific computational capabilities via the cloud. NAVAIR will use this contract to run compute intensive weather modeling applications. These applications, which run in parallel, require a large number of servers and specialized interconnects. The models NAVAIR will run include the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and the Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS).
Weather forecasts and environmental simulations demand vast numbers of data points for accuracy. The complexity and timeliness of these forecasting models are directly tied to the power of the computing system. Under the contract, NAVAIR will utilize Sabalcore's Dedicated services to deliver the required computational resources.
