Mellanox SwitchX-based SX1016 switch solution and ConnectX-3 adapters provide SHARCNET with world-leading Ethernet connectivity and performance
SUNNYVALE, Calif., and YOKNEAM, Israel, April 9 — Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that the Shared Hierarchical Academic Research Computing Network (SHARCNET), a consortium of Canadian academic institutions focused on enabling world-class academic research, has selected Mellanox's SX1016 10GbE switch solution and ConnectX-3 10GbE adapters to enhance their Ethernet interconnect fabric from 1GbE to 10GbE. Mellanox's end-to-end 10GbE interconnect solutions were selected due to their performance advantages, port density, low power consumption, advance features and highest return-on-investment.
"Switching from 1GbE to 10GbE was an obvious decision for us in order to improve our user's experience by overcoming interconnect bottlenecks and poor application performance," said John Morton, technical manager at SHARCNET.
