Some can make the easy argument that without Hadoop, there could be no cloud–at least no cloud as we know it today. Hadoop has its own ecosystem of those who support and implement it and others who bring Hadoop software to the table, including Karmasphere, among a handful of others. Outside of this, of course, is the larger looming issue; Hadoop is at the core of EC2, IBM and Google and for any other cloud vendors on the horizon, this is very likely going to be a piece of their standard offering. There is no question that there is a huge market for cloud computing for the enterprise but the question really is whether or not there is a market for Hadoop.
