Opalis Extends RBA Abilities with Integration Server 5.4

TORONTO, nov. 27 -- Opalis Software Inc., the run book automation (RBA) market leader, today announced the availability of version 5.4 of the award-winning Opalis Integration Server. The new release includes unique capabilities for automating, integrating, and orchestrating IT processes within the data center, including support of service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments, giving customers the ability to achieve greater IT efficiency and business agility while maximizing the performance and return on investment of their IT resources.

Opalis continues to lead the industry in providing enterprise customers with innovative solutions for the intelligent automation of datacenter processes. While effective use of automation in the datacenter is often stymied by the proprietary APIs from different business applications and systems management tools vendors, we deliver the integration needed for automation across these software silos. As SOA-enabled applications continue to gain traction in the market, our customers ability to more easily integrate them into automated process flows for better application performance management increases dramatically, said Charles Crouchman, CTO of Opalis.

Opalis smooth integration of customer SOA applications also enhances the ability to align business processes to IT services. Our comprehensive solution for IT process automation already enables IT to drive down management costs and increase productivity, and to enforce compliant best practices and help maintain availability of all critical business applications. The new features of Opalis Integration Server take our capabilities one step further and focus on ensuring optimal performance and ROI for our customers investments in managing their IT processes within the datacenter and across the entire business infrastructure, Crouchman continued.

Opalis RBA solutions deliver automation through orchestration of IT processes, thereby reducing the manual repetitive efforts that are burdensome, wasteful, and prone to error, yet which must be done by IT to ensure enterprise-efficient operations. Opalis solution is based on a scalable architecture, broad IT workflow automation capabilities, an easy-to-use administrator interface for modification of pre-existing workflows or creation of new ones, and extensive integration capabilities for IT management and provisioning products from IT industry vendors. For customers employing ITIL, Opalis offers automated enforcement of ITIL processes and a user-friendly dashboard for reliable compliance reporting.

The new Opalis Integration Server release includes deep integration into an SOA environment, where business processes often cross multiple business owners and service providers who are dependent on the IT infrastructure. The infrastructure, therefore, must be responsive to constant changes with reliable configuration management and fast incident remediation. For SOA environments, Opalis Integration Server delivers new XML processing capabilities that provide rich manipulation and transformation of content that is delivered from Web services-based SOA solutions, enabling deep integration between components.

Via a new Policy Testing Consule also found in the new Opalis Integration Server release, Opalis further optimizes performance by validating IT process workflows prior to deployment to diagnose potential bottlenecks. Opalis automation solutions replace traditional manual tasks with automated policies that can be run unattended.

Maximizing the Benefits of a Virtualized Environment

As part of todays announcement, Opalis is also announcing the general availability of the Opalis Process Catalog for Virtualization, announced in September at VMworld. The Opalis Process Catalog for Virtualization enables out-of-the-box IT processes to operationalize virtual environments faster than any other solution today.

As customers implement virtualization capabilities from vendors such as VMware in production environments, it is imperative to report compliance and manage the VMs as robustly as any other technologies in the datacenter, said Crouchman. The power of virtualization can become an Achilles heel for IT operations if not managed effectively.

Opalis Process Catalog for Virtualization gives the Global 2000 a market-leading solution for optimizing management of virtualized environments, helping IT organizations control virtual management costs and improve service quality.
