Environment Agency Selects TIBCO BPM, SOA Software

LONDON, Sept. 10 -- TIBCO Software Inc. today announced that the Environment Agency -- the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales -- has chosen TIBCO as its technology partner to support its Modernizing Regulation Program. The three-year business change initiative will help to ensure that all regulatory activities, including permitting and compliance, are delivered within a shared infrastructure, using a defined framework of common processes. This is one of the Agency's principal activities alongside environmental management, custody of data, incident management, flood defense and education.

Dave Clarke, program executive at the Environment Agency, said, "Our goal is to help the Agency deliver maximum effectiveness in its regulatory activities with a more proportionate, consistent and timely approach to its operations. We want to focus our efforts where we can make the most difference. We chose to work with TIBCO because of its technology neutral approach, meaning we are not tied in to any one platform."

In an effort to standardize and simplify its regulation activities and drive further efficiencies from its operations, the Environment Agency is leveraging TIBCO business process management (BPM) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) software to deliver independent platform-neutral support for its heterogeneous IT environment. As a result, the agency will have the ability to capture and model business processes across different regulatory regimes and implement best practices. The project will also enable the agency to incentivize customer self-service and take a risk-based approach to assessment, focusing on the higher-risk areas it is regulating.

Murat Sonmez, executive vice president of global field operations for TIBCO, said, "Government departments and agencies are facing major challenges as the rhetoric behind the transformation agenda gets turned into concrete targets for improvement. The Environment Agency has had the foresight to arm itself for the future and is taking a long-term view, while delivering tangible business benefits today."

TIBCO Software Inc. provides enterprise software that helps companies achieve service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM) success. With over 3,000 customers, TIBCO has given leading organizations around the world better awareness and agility-what TIBCO calls The Power of Now. To learn more, visit TIBCO on the Web at
