CAMPBELL, Calif., Aug. 7 -- ONStor Inc., the leading
provider of scalable clustered NAS solutions for the enterprise, today
announced that ebackup Inc. has chosen the ONStor Pantera Series NAS
(network-attached storage) appliance as the foundation for its
automated, online backup and data restoration services. The ONStor
solution offers ebackup the ability to target customers outside of
small and medium-sized businesses, and support enterprise-level
customers due to its unrivaled scalability. The Pantera was chosen by
ebackup for its ability to function with its existing storage, scale
with the growing needs of enterprise customers and low power
consumption which cuts down on operating costs.
"We went with ONStor for its flexibility and scalability to help
support our business' growth into the enterprise space which is
something we couldn't do before," said Rowland Perkins, president of
ebackup. "We created 'plug and play' storage of 10TB with the
ability to scale to hundreds. This scalability allows us to branch
outside of our current small business customer base, and take on
enterprise-level customers because we have the capacity to handle them."
In ebackup's new storage environment, the ONStor Pantera works in
tandem with backup software provided by Asigra. Asigra are the experts
in agentless, secure online backup and restore solutions not for only
large corporations, but remote and branch offices, while the ONStor
appliance provides primary storage and replication capability between
ebackup's primary and secondary sites. The combination of the two
products allows ebackup the uptime and service level agreements for
24x7x365 reliability the company and its customers require. The company
has more than 300 business clients in the financial services,
insurance, legal and medical industries where anywhere, anytime access
to large amounts of data is critical.
"It's dead simple and easy to administer," says Perkins. "With
ONStor we have less IT headaches and have minimized our risk of
failure. Now, there's no question of any system downtime so every
customer gets the same high level of service, performance and we can
scale capacity based on their individual backup needs."
With the ONStor Pantera, ebackup is able to lineup computers in
front of the storage for load balancing. This enables a better
experience for their customers providing speed, accessibility, shorter
backup windows and faster recoveries. The company can also easily scale
backend storage without downtime as new customers are added.
"The storage and scalability requirements of ebackup are similar to
what we hear from many of our customers," said Bob Miller, CEO of
ONStor. "With our products customers can build their business and be
confident that they have the necessary infrastructure and high
availability to support rapid, and often unpredictable growth."
