Solutions are specifically designed for high performance, high capacity
network cluster applications and, according to DataDirect, deliver the

The S2A Cluster Storage Solution is a turnkey
offering based on S2A technology, pre-configured cluster file system
software, and S2A Storage Servers. This fully integrated and supported
solution is designed as a drop-in solution allowing organizations and
businesses to use DataDirect Networks (DDN) as a single vendor for
consolidated hardware support, reduced maintenance overhead, and
reduced integration and support costs.
DataDirect's Silicon Storage Appliance (S2A) technology integrates a parallel, non-blocking architecture with SAN functionality in one intelligent device. The S2A aims to deliver high performance, highly reliable storage solutions that are easy to install, easy to scale and easy to manage. The S2A's architecture and consolidated functionality is designed to remove the complexity, congestion, latency and contention of generic RAID systems delivering very high performance with lower total cost of ownership and improved return on IT investments.
The S2A Cluster Storage Solutions delivers up to 100 GB/s aggregate I/O, enhanced and automated data protection, and petabytes of capacity in a single solution. Backed by a 7th generation architecture and years of cluster storage deployment experience, this turnkey cluster storage solution is designed to provide ease of installation, management, support and scale of clusters.
This design supports a broad range of compute clusters, powering systems from IBM, Dell, HP, Cray, SGI, Bull and others. According to DataDirect, the S2A Cluster Storage Solutions has the ability to utilize the S2A Parallel Architecture, scaling storage clusters aggregate solution I/O up to 100 GB/s, up to 2 GB/s client I/O, and up to 11,000 client support. The S2A Cluster Storage solutions also support petabytes of storage Fibre Channel or SATA disk storage with native InfiniBand and or FC-4 storage interconnects and native InfiniBand or GigE client communications. The S2A Cluster Storage Solutions support a variety of high performance networks and are application and system level tuned with specific industry expertise.
